GenCon 2013 – Retro Raygun Demo – Cosplay

We had an amazing time at GenCon 2013.  The demos were great fun.  Each game had six players; three for the Galacteers and three for the Robot Legion.  One game ended in a Galacteer win and the other ended in a Robot win.  Everyone had a great time (except the one guy who got crushed by Queen Mechanica…. I tried to get him to retreat…but some people just don’t take a hint… haha).

The scenario included opposing forces crossing a jungle planet surface, breaking into an ancient labyrinth, securing an ancient device, and getting back off the board.  All this had to be done while monsters attacked from the deep jungle.  We completed the teaching, and the game in the planned three hours.  It is always nice to finish a game during a convention rather than just get part way through.

The Cosplay was a riot.  We couldn’t walk thirty feet through the hall without being stopped for photos.  There were fewer photos once we were in the game hall so we could concentrate on the action.

Can wait till we roll out the finished version of Retro Raygun.

Raygun Assault and Rescue

Had a great game of Raygun over the break.  The scenario went right down to the wire.  Ace was the only Galacteer left when he was able to rescue Jane.  Thanks to Tom for bringing his amazing scratch-built rockets.

Kaboom! Explosions Rock Sleeping Dragon

Another great battle report from “My War Rocket Blog”.

Kaboom! Explosions Rock Sleeping Dragon.

“”Commander, shall we fire to disable or destroy the Imperial craft?”..
The Commander narrows her eyes as the Fury bears down on the Raptor at ever increasing speed.. again with a sense of the increasing urgency the gunnery officer asks again,
“Commander do we disable or destroy?”
But the Valkeeri commander holds silence as the red and gold of the Raptor is swiftly filling the view through the 3 oval bubble shaped viewports..
“Commander?” cries the alarmed officer and at the last possible effective moment the Valkeeri commander snatches up the steller-radio and orders to her patrol fleet,
“DESTROY! DESTROY! DESTROY!”

Ogre Miniatures Modular Battle Tiles

To make my Ogre game board I glued polystyrene foam on 12 inch tiles. I cut the foam to size first so I could make rivers that dropped below the top of the land. The tiles can be assembled in a variety of ways. Add hills and cliffs, trees and roads… and you have an amazing modular play table.

Metal Mayhem!

Robot Forces are lining up in preparation for the assault.

This is one of the test scenarios for Raygun.  A massive force from the Robot Legion must break through a fortified Galacteer defensive line.  Guaranteed to results in giant piles of smoking hulks… but will the Robots break through?????

View from behind the lines.  Get ready men…. here they come!

Oh mighty Queen Mechanika…. we will destroy this fortification…. our advanced forces have determined that the walls are made from childrens building blocks…
